The Slush Fund?

Neiler

Player Valuation: £100m
Many of us think there is a little bit of brinkmanship going on between Moyes and Bill in regard to the new contract and pressure being put on Bill/board to release funds for a top four assault next season (hopefully this)!

So tell me this,

How much do you think will be available in the close season?

and

How much do you think we need to make necessary squad improvements?

well.. bill did say there would be lots if we qualified for the champs league. the way the squad is falling apart at the seams it looks like that might not happen.

my guess would be 10-15 million.

No one can really say what we have, what we have coming to us or whats been budgeted for.

but if we dont currently have the funds required, then the board/chairman needs to find a solution whilst we have the current platform to progress.

Whether that means nudge robert earl, or tescos or another of his wealthy chums, or sell up; I dont know.

I know weve struggled for investment in the past, but we are in a stronger position now than weve ever been to interest wannabe wealthy-football-club-owners given that we have consolidated as 'at least' a top six side.

I think bill has done as good a job as was possible.
But if he cant make the step up, and prove he can run a club sustaining progression possibly into the top 4 and above, whatever the requirements may be...........then he has to go, we cant afford to stagnate.

But if bill can sort the structure of the boardroom out and bring some big guns to the table, make him chairman for life.

I'd say 10M assuming we don't sell anyone to bring funds in.

Remember the the funds we received from Brum for Faddy are still burning a hole in Kenwright's pocket.

i hope we dont get incvested in by foreigners, look at the kopites, theyre not to be trusted..they bring debt, and could sell up at any point and leave us in the [Poor language removed], i would be content with a low budget and continue slow progression than the quick fix foreigner

I wouldn't mind a "foreigner" if it was done for the right reasons (i.e. wanting to own a football club vs. trying to make a quick buck.)

I think an example would be Lerner at Villa.

Low key and stays behind the scenes. Let's O'Neill get on with it without much interference, at least from a public perception. I don't think he leveraged himself to the hilt to buy the club either like the Glazers or Gillett/Hicks.

But I don't want any kind of Abramovich or DIC type of investment in that respect.

if we are to improve next season the players we will have to look at will be worth 8 to 10m for one of them.

We need some serious investment in the summer. more like 30 to 40 million or we will be fighting to get into the top 6 not the top 4

make no mistake city,av,port and spurs will invest alot of money in the summer.

the current world economic downturn will keep a lot of wealthy individuals busy, so that puts any plans to buy a potentially huge loss making business like a football club well and truly on the back burner.

havnt we signed a fresh chang deal?
before jjb we were making losses on merchandise, how has it been turned around?
fernandes/gonzales money still there?
mcfadden cash?...............................\
silva cash?.........................................\
vdm, valente, gonners in the summer.> wage saving and space on the payroll.
stubbs gone already........................./
gardner, gravesen, loans ended...../
uefa,carling cup extra games cash.
uefa tv money
increased league tv money
better finishing position means increase
ticket/season ticket increased cash
how are we doing selling the few corporate spaces we have?

Im expecting at least £20million available this summer, hopefully moyes can use it well and make 2 or 3 top class first team signings.

Have to agree there - Anything less than £10m would be a joke, taking into account the £5m for McFadden and what Moyes has achieved this season. Our league placing alone and McFadden's fee would amount to £10m.

My guess - I don't think £15m plus Pienaar would be out of the question.

I am expecting 20 million as it stands. If we qualify for Champs League do not be surprised to see that extended to 30 million. My honest thoughts.

We have in fact managed to get by this season with three dead weights on the team, VDM, Tommy G and Money F, we have to get shut of them and replace plus two other so there is not that much to go round. I would suggest that the loan application forms will have to come out as well(y)
