The Secret Of Monkey Island

One of the best ever made! Still funny to this day.

And it is still hard (we got the revamped one for the Xbox 360 - hey, we played it in classic graphics!!!) and it still caused me to scratch my head in a couple of spots.

Lucasarts just had hit after hit those days.

Off the top of my head:

Day of the Tentacle
Sam and Max
The Dig
Indiana Jones
Full Throttle
The Dig

They also did the excellent X-Wing and TIE Fighter games!!!!

Yes I did. The isolation and fear of being on an alien planet. Actually liked it more than Full Throttle. (admittedly those two are towards the bottom of the Lucasarts pile for me)

Played the first one about two thirds of the way through then my system crashed and for some reason messed up my save files as well. Replayed it to the exact same spot....where the same thing happened again.

Cannot see the name Monkey Island without the rage and loss coming flooding back!

Those LucasArts adventure games were fiendishly difficult by modern standards (especially for a game in which you couldn't die). I remember that Monkey Island 2 had an "easy" mode, but even that was hard as nails.

If they released those sort of games today I'm pretty sure that most gamers would be tearing their hair out after a hour or so or no progress.

I loved Monkey Island 2, DOTT, and Indiana Jones, but didn't get around to playing the others.
