A LIVERPOOL FC fan has been banned from football for three years after spitting on Everton captain Phil Neville.
Ian Golder, 39, of Haselbeech Crescent, Norris Green, spat on the Blues skipper as he went to take a throw-in at Anfield during March’s bad-tempered derby match.
Now he has been hit with a football banning order that prevents him from going to any match in England and Wales for the next three years.
Liverpool bosses are yet to decide if he will be banned from the Reds’ ground for life.
The council care worker got up from his seat in the front row of the Centenary Stand as Neville approached to take the throw and hurled abuse at the defender.
In footage captured by the Sky Sports cameras and shown to the North Liverpool Community Justice Centre yesterday, Golder was seen inches away from Neville as the former England full-back wiped the wet ball with his shirt sleeves.
Before Neville ran to the touchline to throw the ball back into play, Golder spat on him three times – at the top, middle and bottom of his back.
The footage shown to the court then showed him sitting back in his seat, smirking and laughing with a man sat next to him.
Julian Peers, prosecuting, said Neville did not feel the spit land on him but the TV footage was conclusive.
Golder claimed he had been fiddling with a bridge tooth in his mouth that had become loose as he became “overexcited”. He denied spitting.
But Judge David Fletcher rejected his story, telling the defendant that from the TV pictures he was “basically baying for blood”.
Judge Fletcher said: “Having looked at the footage, I have no doubt whatsoever that you spat at him.
“It was quite clearly a disgraceful act. You went over and beyond, you were basically baying for blood.”
After being convicted of common assault, Golder was fined £250 and ordered to pay £200 costs.
He is the second Red to be dealt with by the courts for assaulting Neville at the March 30 game.
In April, season ticket holder Michael Anthony Blackmore, 48, of Dundale Road, Old Swan, admitting punching the former Manchester United player in the back as he went to take another throw-in.
He was also banned from football and fined £500.

Yeah surprised I never got bottled in this bar I was in. Calling Torres a diving cheating **** about 5 times, all tossers in there, not one said anything to me.

Things such as the LFC fans throwing excrement at the Munich memorial at Old Trafford, singing songs mocking the Munich disaster, stabbing our fans and even police horses at our matches and the reputation Liverpool gave to the rest of the English clubs as well as the European bans after Heysel Others include tear-gassing the team as they arrived at Anfield in 1986 (I think), throwing bags of excrement and *** at our supporters home and away, smashing up our stadium when they played a semi-final there and attempting to tip Alan Smith's ambulance as he was on his way to hospital after breaking his leg at Anfield.

Every club has its bad elements, were no saints mate. Andy Nicholls can vouch for that.

I think your being a bit harsh ther mate its only kopite humour of course if you did something of a simmilar nature ,you would be called scum :lol:

they live in their own little world after your lot started singing about Hillsboro (I DONT CONDONE)The lads from the local where fuming and when I said yes its awful but what about the munich song to a man they replied thats just a bit of banter unbelievable.:huh:

I wasnt generalising mate just on about people like the guy who spat at Neville. Your right about bad elements though we ( United) have some real tossers makes you cringe sometimes

I was at a few of the incidents wrote about and some of it was exaggerated but at that time going away could damage your health.Never one to look for a fight I still got a few kickings in the 60-70s (y)

what annoys me is the two [Poor language removed] where found guilty in court yet the club that above all others should realise what can happen when its not checked have done nothing if that dose not speak volumes for that club and fans I dont know what dose compare it to the guy at goodison banned for refusing not to smoke in the toilet .

Hiya Coyney I wasnt generalising just on about that LFC element who does that sort of thing. Anyway anyone who sings about dead people is a low life wherever they are from. A couple of dickheads ( daytrippers) tried it on the Stretford end near me last year and were sorted out.

When Munich happened My dad a blue was upset and I always remember him saying how tradgic and how it was a loss to football not just United these thugs today just dont get it or just dont care (y)

I remember going over for a pre season game a few years ago and went into a pub that we used when we went to watch Rovers friday night games anyhow got a pint sat down and all the windows came crashing in crazy (y)
