The Rugby League World Cup 2013 Thread

The thing is, if the international game is to grow, then these teams need to have games throughout the season. You get the feeling with some sides in the comp, like Italy and USA, that they're more akin to Harlem Globetrotters that come together because it's a WC, but there's no chance of them being released to play more regularly for their 'country'.

At least if Wales wanted to play France, say during the Exiles weekend, then it's a fair chance that would happen. I doubt it would if Italy wanted to play the USA.

Hilarious that Wales were beaten by the United States of Austramerica.

'Team Tomahawk' ? shoulkda been team Boomerang to be honest cos they'll all be going back to where they came from at the end of this tournament.

2nd Down and 4 at The Racecourse.

Giving this it's own thread seeing as it's been put in the Grand Final one.

Strange decision by The Rugby League to host a World Cup & then play a 'home' game in Wales ?

It's been officially pressed as 'Rugby League World Cup 2013: England & Wales'

Cardiff, Manchester and London all bid for the three 'elite' games, so the best bet was always to go to Cardiff first!

Been a thoroughly enjoyable tournament so far.... been to 3 matches already, and my bird is working with Samoa, so got to meet them all, was giggling like a schoolgirl. Top fellas.

Scotland and USA have been the real surprise packages haven't they? Scotland turning over Tonga is the biggest shock of all so far, as i really was expecting a Tonga Vs. NZ 1/4 final! Could still happen mind! Off tomorrow to see them play Cook Islands, in Leigh. I've been thoroughly impressed by the crowds, with only the PNG Vs. Samoa and the upcoming Scotland Vs. USA being cast into really bad light!

What a sport.... so i'll be giving the Semi's a miss due to it being Derby day, but sacrificing my Stoke ticket for the RLWC Final, and i hope England will be there, but i highly doubt it.

Cook Islander just gone over line, only had to ground it and Sonny Bill'd it into touch the blert.

Tonga leading, decent game tbh at Leigh Sports Village, thought they'd struggle for a crowd tbh but a Stadium Record 10 1/2k, higher than when Wigan played there in a Challenge Cup Semi this year.... 6 miles from home

Good game today with Wales and South Africa, thought Wales were gonna come right back into it but the daft last try for the Springboks ruined them.

I spent last night in a gay bar trying to explain the difference between union and league to a crowd of men who neither knew nor cared anything at all about either of the sports.

The words fascists, tories and steroids were used a lot.

Not really. Can't beat "Get your steroids, lad. You've pulled" or "Is your dad a tory? Cos he clearly stole a bunch of jewells from the poor and disadvantaged and put it in your eyes" or "Or if I were a fascist italian dictator could I benito you tonight?"
