Need a club to free fall....come on fsw, you can do it with Newcastle. Huddersfield with upstart Wagner can do one, and the last place any one of Burnley, Cardiff, Fulham.....35 points + above should avoid the drop.

Burnley I'm quite sure will escape. They graft, seem quite mentally tough and can score goals. The drop off this season isn't all that surprising, they're just reverting to their level. Last season was a totsl one-off for them and they know it.

Southampton I would like to see drop out but they've probably made the change just in time. Hughes is an appalling manager whom they should never have thrown a bone to anyway. Awful but they've probably just about got enough.

Huddersfield are a poor man's Burnley. A lot of workers but no quality and they can't score more than they concede, absolutely no way a team can stay up of that's the case. They'll go and no one will be sorry about it.

Fulham could go either way. Ranieri is a shrewd appointment but he's not some wizard, barring 2 or 3 that's an extremely poor team. They've got money so they can spend next month but need to buy wisely.

Cardiff will definitely go, there's just nothing there other than a bit of bite. Considering everyone expected them to be rock bottom all year they've done well to make a fight of it but they've got no money at all. The other teams will spend and they won't. They'll be toast.

Newcastle are similar to Fulham, January will be massive. Ashley likely won't put hand in his pocket but Benitez can mastermind the odd fluke win and may even sort out a loan deal or two.

Palace aren't even in danger I don't think, Zaha will get them to at least 14th place on his own. Townsend has the odd worlds performance as well as saw the day.

Prediction - Huddersfield 20th, Cardiff 19th, Newcastle 18th.

Are they though? Only one team’s conceded more goals than them and only one has scored fewer. They’ve already shipped more goals than they did all last season (39 last year, 41 and counting this year) and the only way they score is hoofball and set pieces.

I almost didn’t list Palace here. They’re on a sub-40 point pace and that’s why I ultimately had them on the list, but absolutely no chance they go down.

Huddersfield survived last season off their boss start.

Unless they get a miracle soon, they’re gonna be absolutely finished. Just lack so much in every area.

Cardiff have a little bite about them, I reckon they could go to the wire, same with Fulham too actually.

But then I look around and I think who else is going to be as consistently as poor as them?

Can you see Newcastle dropping like flies again? I can’t.

Southampton? Had a little revival but is it going to get better?

Burnley? Yeah, I can see Burnley faltering tbh. They were soulless against us, just clogging everyone. I’d be very worried for them.

Palace and Bournemouth? Surely too good to pick up points in other areas to keep them safe. Bournemouth are doing horrendously bad at present, and would be my first choice for the drop, but naturally they’ll find a way.

So I’ll go

17. Burnley
18. Fulham
19. Cardiff
20. Huddersfield

I can't see either Huddersfield or Cardiff surviving so they're my two almost certs for relegation. For me, it's then from Newcastle, Burnley, or Fulham.

Ranieri will inspire Fulham so they may get enough points while Newcastle have Benitez, so I feel that Burnley may be the side who tail off.
