The reaction to Everton thread

Because it was them throwing bananas at John Barnes wasn't it? Think you could give lessons on delusion!

It's a shame that there was so much racism in the game 35 years ago mate. It really is shameful.

It's also shameful that Liverpool fans and players are still at it.

Suarez has gone, great player, crap person and racism should be rooted out wherever it occurs, but that Sergey guy just seems to be the type to sing the always a victim chant at the derby and blindly see no fault in our own fans. Maybe I'm wrong but hey.

Playing the victim their mate, another sign.

Remember that time you all wore the T shirt to support a racist

I wasn't really thinking about Suarez to be honest mate, although the abuse their fans still give Evra sums them up. More about those fans in the kop the other season making that Oldham player cry because they were hurling racist abuse at him. Or the fella the other season making monkey gestures. Their fans are stuck in the dark ages.

The reaction i find interesting is amongst our own fans. There is a whole generation maybe even two that have grown up with us penny piching, selling before buying and being concerned about wages and the size of the squad.

The desperation in the transfer thread to get it all done now, in case it all might not be true is evidence of this, as if its all just a dream, that will go away.

We have always traditionaly eaten at the top table when it come to going after the very best of players and attracting them into our philosephey and idendity.

The last 20 years were a speed bump, its just normal service resumed really after a barren spell. I do think their is a mental shift needed for those traumatised by the lean years to expect this is what we are, this is always what we have been, not arrogantly in fact being humble and poised is the very key to this mentality.

But to know we are where we always have been throughout our history and were we should be.

I'd forgotten about that, disgusting!

Not sure about this "we're hated now" narrative going about. I don't look at other team's forums (Unless it's the RS for some comedy gold) but are anyone outside of Merseyside talking about us with envy and fear? I'm not so sure. I have a few work colleagues who follow the Manchester teams and a Spurs fan. They're much more worried about the likes of West Ham, in a couple of years and even the RS if they spend big. They're not seeing us as a legitimate threat to the top 4 (and why would they after so many years in the doldrums?)

Once we get some big money signings in we might start getting a reaction of hate but until the Mosh starts putting money where our mouths are then I think we'll be under everyone's radar still. Not that it's a bad thing in terms of pressure.

The red echo doing their best to keep the plucky little Everton tag going. Hard to believe that they would trawl the Internet for some of the drivel in that article. An article that you would never see written about Liverpool.

Mate, you gotta stop this paranoia, the article is probably right. Man City had similar problems (ha ha problems! )when they come into their money. We got the money, unfortunately, a few other clubs are awash with cash too. It doesnt help when the likes of Utd And Chelsea and City have new managers, therefore, probably a high turnover of players. Then you have an attractive looking Spurs side on the rise, West Ham in the new Stadium. Obviously, Arsenal. You then got the London element which the Foreigners seem to favour for some obscure reason. All chasing the same players, it's gonna be hard to get that 'statement' signing, because we ARE new to this, paying big fees & big wages. It's gonna be even harder to attract them given where we've finished the last 2 seasons.
