During the American Civil War, the Confederates operated a prisoner-of-war camp near Andersonville, Georgia. This picture of a prisoner gives the viewer a glimpse of the prison's brutal conditions. Confederate soldiers crammed tens of thousands of prisoners into the camp, leading to over 13,000 deaths. I've put a 'spoiler' on the photo because some may find it disturbing.
