a mate of mine grows organic avocados in the Bay of Plenty (NZ). Every month he collects a skip-sized volume (9 cubic metres) of seaweed/kelp and composts it into the most foul smelling concoction which he then sprays over his trees. It's miracle fertilizer. he's been at it for 20 years now and is a multi-millionaire...he gets $2-3/fruit and he grows thousands of the things.
My project in (imminent) retirement* is to emulate what he's done...it's a fabulous life-style

*at one stage I thgought of retiring to Liverpool because I loved Everton and wanted to go to watch them in my dotage. But I'm off that idea...Everton are pretty crap at football...
