It's still not positively obvious from that photo. But it was the linesman who confirmed it, and look where he is standing. His view is no better really than the one of the cameraman.
However, many years ago (about 1984 I think it was), I spoke to Roger Hunt and I asked him why he didn't follow the shot in like any natural striker would do, and he answered very calmly 'because it was already over the line'.
