I remember one 'April fools' day some decades ago when we had a bitterly cold end of March beginning of April, a mate of mine travelled several miles to Otterspool Prom because Radio Merseyside announced that it was so cold the River Mersey had frozen over and people were walking on it from one side to the other

There was a similar one in the 80s saying that it was the lowest tide for hundreds of years, and people were walking from New Brighton to Liverpool on the river bed. Mad.
