When i was in high school, early 60s, we had quit a few nuns as teachers. One of them used to refer to all the boys as master. We had one boy called Tim Bates so when she called on him it would be "Master Bates" lol. I really don't think she knew she was saying i know i didn't at the time. Different times.

I had the same. A lad in the class surname was Tate. Teacher would use Master ... lol
