I'm sick of hearing that "we're giving it a good go" at these sports that we don't usually play, like handball and basketball etc, we're still getting beaten at them all and giving it a good go isn't really good enough

Basketball is a huge sport in Britain, I used to play in a league 15 years ago so it's not a new thing to the UK.

No I know, but we just don't usually have an olympic team if I'm correct. I know they're not national sports though so I do understand why its being said. That whole attitude just seems like a national philosophy when it comes to sport, and its not one that many more successful sporting have, and people complain when we don't do as well in sports

We are gonna get loads of ' just taking part' medals..........this is how coaches are now told to teach young kids sport. They take away the competitive element so children with a lesser aptitude for sport can also join in on a more level playing field. It's bollox...... sport is competitive where the best man/woman/team wins, we need to encourage kids to compete not just take part.

This Olympics is like a giant all you can eat buffet, you want everything because it all looks so good and its right there in front of you but there's just too much of it that you know you have to pace yourself
