What was all that business about the match between a Russian and Kazakh being settled by 'judges preference' after both scores and countback were level.

Now that does sound dodgy.

If, after countback, they're still level then the five judges pick their favourite.

I doubt there's anything dodgy there as it's very rare it gets to that point, so setting something up would be tricky. But I don't like it either, it's basically giving up on statistical meaning and just picking one from sheer preference. The commentators reckoned the Russian won because he was more offensive and the judges liked that, but this isn't artistic gymnastics ffs. The Kazakh's counter punching approach shouldn't be any less valid.
 
For all the stunning, sexy babes of the Olympics, if I was to pick one athlete that represented what I loved about it all, it would be Mo Farah.
