We used to make a den inside the local neibourhoof bonfire out of all the furniture collected locally - most of it now would make a fortune on Bargainhuntlol
Thinking back the floor inside the huge bonfire covered epithet newspaper for warmth and we just went into the woods and cut many trees down for the main bombfire - that den was dangerous as a fire risk as the false door was hidden to get in it lol

Remember the old Army and Navy stores haversack you toted your books around in?
We had to have ours boarded square so as not to damage the text books. Furthermore in my case I got a twatting for having drawn the Everton crest on the top flap. Only because I was at a grammar school and anything football related was verboten.

..I do, Tommy. I remember having one of those haversacks. Well remembered. I went to John Hamilton which was a High School back in the day, don’t remember us not being allowed footy crests. Teachers and Sixth formers wore gowns. The school ended up as Breckfield Comp but is knocked down now. We did win the Echo Cup in my year, though.
