The Oldies Thread

I remember my father renting a black & White tv - which you insert 2 bob = 10 pence in it - he got 50% & of the money back when they came to empty the box at the back - always breaking down as the box got full -

Nothing but a nuisance - plus do you remember indoor Ariels - what a farce they where used to have them hanging up by the curtains :D
We used to rent ours from Radio Rentals, every other week the tube would go and my Dad would have to ring the shop so they could send someone to replace it.

I remember the VHS video hire shops & decided to hire the player out - it lasted only 4 days broken - I played hell with them - & on inspection by the call out engineer my 6 month old son had been using the cassette hole as a money box & caused it to fuse the VHS box :) he just laughed & told us to buy a guard or put it up higher :D

1967 when Kenneth Wolstenholme left :D

Before my time.
Jimmy Hill I remember first. :)

I think Jimmy Hill could be a bit of pain but he, at least, tried to be a football journalist and talked about things in the best interest of the game. He wasn't afraid to criticise the football authorities. Sky would never do anything but fawn to the premier league because they would be too scared that they would have the football taken off them at the next round of bidding for the broadcasting rights ...

Didn't he lead the campaign to abolish the maximum wage for footballers ?
