The Now-Irrelevant 2024/25 Relegation Battle (Without Everton!)

Disagree. Think 31 may be enough, 34/35 definitely will be.

Anyway it's a moot point. We're as likely to go down as we are to qualify for Europe. Let's just see where we end up; hopefully nearer 11th than 17th when all is said and done.

I think the title and relegation spaces were pretty much settled today. Can't see either changing.
Famous last words. For a club that has been circling the drain for 3 years to proclaim their safety with 1/3 of the season still to play is a weeeee bit early to say the least IMO. In real terms, you're probably right, but with 12 games to go, would be foolish to get carried away until the points are on the board and it's job done - and the best bit is: there is no way Moyes will be letting the players think we're on easy street with 36 points at stake for all teams around/below us.

Well enjoy worrying about the rest of the season, will you message me Leicester and Ipswich win 5 games out of their remaining? cheers.

There's as much chance of you been struck with a meteor then everton been relegated . Do you worry about that too?

Next 4 games:

Leicester - wham (a), chelski (a), manure (h), citeh (a)
Ipswich - manure (a), palace (a), Forrest (h), Bournemouth (a)
Southampton - Chelski (a), RS (a), wolves (h), palace (h)

Based on these games if any of them get more than a lucky 1 point I would be surprised.

So even if we lose all of our 4 games which include Brentford, Wolves, wham and RS then we are likely 13 points plus much better gd better off going into the last 8 games.

Would then mean a team would have to win 4 out of 8 games plus a couple of draws to overtake us.

If we get 3-5 points out of our next 4 games then a team would have to be near perfect and us to lose all remaining games.

Neither Ipswich or Leicester are getting any more than 30 points this year. If they get to 25 points they have done very well in the remaining games.

Aside from the fact we were robbed of a pen today, we still got a point, all the teams in the relegation zone lost and we moved another point away from them, 14 points clear of the drop with 12 games to go. Even though we are only on 31 points, it would take something monumental now from 2 of the bottom 4 for us to have any issues.
I still think we are capable of putting even more distance between ourselves and the bottom 3

31 from 26 games isn't that bad. Roughly 45 over a season. Comfortably stay up every season.

I never said I was worrying about the rest of the season, nor did I say Leics and Ips will win 5/12 games (do you hear voices in your head telling you how to read, or are you just naturally stupid dense?). If you think 3 clubs will go down with fewer than 31 points, fair enough. I happen to think we'll need a handful more points from the final THIRD of the season just to be absolutely certain, but dont let that get in the way of your party celebrations.

Literally NO ONE said anything about being worried about anything; merely applying common sense that there is still 12 games to go, 36 points to play for, and until we're across the line it's not done. Obviously this has proven too much of a complicated concept for some people to grasp.

You said that we shouldn't consider ourselves safe . Mathematically we aren't. As are about 8/10 other teams.
But we can relax. We have gone through enough the last few seasons.
I'll predict if we didn't score another goal this season we are still safe.
If people want to say we are safe then that's their right.

I’m still old school. We’ve had too much pain and strife these last few years, even though it feels like we’ve got enough now.

Get us our 40 points asap please Davey, then everyone can talk safe, even though it’s more than likely already done.

So much nicer to be looking up and dreaming about Europe etc, than fretting about relegation.

I agree, still aiming for 40 points, which is 3 more wins from the remaining 12 games. That feels much more achievable than it did a few weeks ago

I'm not sure what your point or complaint is. I said we're not mathematically safe, and you seem to agree. I said it's highly unlikely we go down, and you seem to agree. Any reasonable person would accept there is a fair degree of relaxation currently being 14 points clear of the drop, but I'm not wrong when I say until it's done it's not done; and the team need to stay focused on that because it doesnt happen by magic. No one has tried to stifle others "rights" by stating common sense things. What a ridiculous argument to make.
