The Now-Irrelevant 2024/25 Relegation Battle (Without Everton!)

Watching Ipswich tonight and seeing the desire, energy and belief they have. 3 things we are severely lacking in. It’s such a sad state of affairs that we are (again) relying on teams below us to be worse than us. It’s scandalous.

Forest have shown that money invested wisely and a positive attitude/game plan can work wonders under a decent coach.

Instead we splurge money on Beto and O’Brien who aren’t even deemed good enough to start for us.

We can’t continue the season as we are, relegation beckons if we do.

Not sure i saw much different in their performance than ours. Only difference is they got a dodgy penalty given that swung the game for them

Man City, Man Utd and Chelsea were there for the taking had we actually tried to win any of them.
We are the absolute cowards of the division.

I know Chelsea are faltering now but that's still a good point in my book.

The lost period of the season was after beating Ipswich taking 3 points from Fulham, Southampton, West Ham and Brentford. Saints loss a disaster and probably lucky to take three draws from the other games. Considering one was against ten men for a whole half and West Ham are pretty rubbish this season that was the opportunity to get good distance from 18th but it hasn't been taken and now the pressure is rising.

The whole season has pretty much been a loss. Dyche didn't get the team fit and we had a bad opening and didn't win a match until the end of September.

I think it goes without saying the Bournemouth home match will go down in Everton folklore for all the wrong reasons if this season ends very badly. A game that was impossible to lose going into the 88th minute and it was duly lost. Even just the three points from that and it's still a five point buffer to 18th.

I remember when Villa finally went down in 2016 they played a very similar game at Leicester early that season. Were 2-0 up and very comfortable and then completely lost it in last ten minutes and it finished 3-2 Leicester so parallels.

I disagree, his assistants knew how he wanted to play and would drill first team the way he wanted. He also put a time limit on it. He's effectively trying to do what he would've done in pre-season, in short he was trying to make the best of a difficult situation.
The time limit involved an immediate relegation battle, I admire his honesty but it would have been mental to agree to in the circumstances

And idealist is another word for relegated.
That's certainly untrue. Off the top of my head Frank and Pochettino are two managers who never wavered from their overarching principles and have stayed up with clubs that don't have the resources we should in theory have.

You can also go down playing like Sean Dyche. Just ask him about it.

What you cannot do is ever get better. Whatever division you are in you start the next season exactly as crap as you ended the last. That is the cycle we must break.

Have to say aswell Man. United look every inch a team and club that is going to keep losing games for the next few months. Ignore the names and reputations, at 22 points they are far from safety given what they're producing currently. Annoying they'll probably have found something by the time they come to Goodison but can't write that one off.
I thought it at the time, more so now, that ManU were there for the taking.

This manager and these players better realize, soon, that they don't want to be the ones that sent us down...talk about being haunted by your past. In this day and age they'll never fail to be reminded of it by blues, no matter where they go.

Wake the feck up.
