They are intentionally tanking in order to get a high draft pick and franchise QB in the draft next year. It is an organizational thing, not just Flores. He'll be given a few years to rebuild them, I would think.

Never been done before in the NFL as player contracts and careers are so short, but it has become fairly common in other American professional sports.
