The summer recess for parliament starts on July 21st - just over 2 weeks. Johnson's hope will be to get to that date still in place by any means possible, then have almost 2 months out of the limelight for things to quieten down. The Express is already pushing the line that with Sunak gone Johnson can now put in place the tax cuts he's wanted to do all along. Expect a lot more of these diversionary tactics from his supporters over the next few days.
