The thing with Starmer is that he's not liked. Even in his own party he's not liked. So it's a bit difficult for the rest of the country to warm to him. They see no real distinction between the murderer pushing neo-liberalism and a hand wringing cry arse offering more neo-liberalism.

That's why he's still getting slaughtered in the polls vis-a-vis the murderer.

Got a letter today telling me my Carers Allowance was going up. Thats what they pay me to keep Mrs R here, not in social services/care, while she gets stronger etc etc.

I have no idea of the formula they use, inflation/rpi/cpi, not a clue.

Not sure but I think it's linked to inflation. The missus used to be on it but not for very long as her mum went into a home

There's a lot of truth there. Corbyn, whatever else can be said about him, did arouse strong feelings among friend and for alike; Starmer just seems bland.

I remember Tony Benn addressing this very question before and saying that it was because in the end, people still prefer conviction even if its not a conviction they like and would therefore vote real tory than fake tory.
