If Labour have any competence at all, then Johnson has just thrown away any chance at the next election over just £5m in the long term, and possibly incited rioting on the streets in the short term.

Absolutely disgusting by the Tories, completely reprehensible.

Sadly the person who should be the Labour leader is instead having to fight for Greater Manchester as its mayor right now

I wonder if he'd have been so keen to be PM if he'd known that Covid was round the corner, and that he'd be required to actually do some work and make unpopular decisions.
I suspect that he'll be looking to get out smartish, citing ill health. That's reasonably convincing at least. He's certainly starting to look pretty sick.
