Another one gone at the TT, as well as injuries to the Crowe brothers last night in the sidecars which, in addition to one previous sidecar crash and one very near miss earlier on Wed has led to sidecar class being abandoned for the rest of TT.

RIP Daniel Ingham

When they start cancelling a whole class of racing then you know something has to change.

Don't see why they don't just fix the regulations so they have smaller engines or power output limitations/top end speed restrictions. If the riders don't want that then look for accident blackspots and add chicanes to reduce speeds in those areas.

I've wondered this for a couple of days, have they resurfaced any parts of the roads or has the incredible heat altered the road wear or are they using a new design of tyre. Something has altered.

Ironically, I think the restrictions they’ve made this year to the sidecars’ power has led to teams trying to compensate with altered aerodynamics and racing tactics, leading directly to last night’s crash and a near miss earlier in the day.

That’s not to say I disagree with you, just that it feels like the first attempt was counterproductive.

As far as changing the layout of the course, the downside to road racing is that’s not gonna happen. Last night’s sidecar crash was actually on a straight bit of road!

Track wise, I didn't mean anything permanent, a chicane can be created with a couple of dozen tyres. With the idea a bit like what was introduced to the Circuit de La Sarthe to break up long straights.

I wasn't aware they had introduced restrictions. People will always push to the limit of whatever is put in front of them, all you can do is reduce the speed in every inch of the road hoping that what might have been unsurvivable, now isn't. I think if they made it impossible to go for some of the outright track records it might take away some of the danger.

Some years just appear to be worse than others, I guess reports would have been out from the riders if there was something. Hopefully we don't get any more fatalities/nasty accidents.

There's design issues with restrictions, where speed means downforce suddenly a lack of grip on a dangerous corner is sprung.

They need to give us more info on the changes they have introduced. If it's just the side car then I understand the cessation of that prong of the competition, hopefully there's nothing detrimental to the big solo bikes. If a load of veterans get hurt or worse next week there'll be trouble.

It is defo only sidecars where restrictions were introduced. I (would like to) think that the outright cancellation after some worrying incidents means that they’ve seen the error of their ways and will spend the next year with teams and other relevant parties to make sure that any changes made are with rider safety in mind, and rules are in place to curtail any potentially dangerous attempts at circumvention.

In the meantime, fingers crossed for a full recovery for all those involved in the sidecar accidents so far.

27.5mm restrictor plates = limited through put of air and fuel to the cylinders.

The sidecar accident this year mirrored one from last year where in each case the respective sled has taken off.

A sad one, I listen to a fair few bands/projects he is in, particularly gang gang dance. Eye Contact was probably one of the best albums of the 00

The TT sidecar crash last week has broken the back of the lady driver (~30 year veteran), she's currently paralysed from mid back down, but there could be a way back. The passenger who got off much less badly has told the investigation a hare burst out from the siding and put itself under the leading wheel which is what has lead to the then terrible crash. They're both in Aintree hospital. (not the hare!)
