The New(ly) Dead Thread

Surely I can't be the first here to note and lament the passing of the legendary Steve Cropper? He was such a giant that there's no quick and pithy way of summing him up, so I'll just remind y'all that he was a genuine American hero who, as Stax Records house guitarist and Telecaster mainstay of Booker T and the MGs, played on a staggering amount of America's common musical heritage, cowrote evergreen soul and R&B classics--"Midnight Hour," "Knock on Wood," "(Sittin' On) The Dock of the Bay," etc., etc., etc.--and acted as a lowkey agent of racial integration in the process. RIP, Superman.

Wonderful guitarist and a fantastic human being.

His understated playing on I’ve Been Loving You Too Long by Otis Redding is magnificent.

Ohhhh man. Loved the Blues Brothers movie when I was a kid. That was my first intro to him and the vast majority of the awesome musicians involved. RIP.
