Haven't seen the interview on SSN but on skysports.com it only carries the following quotes - which to be fair, are reasonable and positive and honest.

"The Champions League place is in the distance, a European place, we would take that now. It's what we have been going for all season, making sure that next season there is European football being played at Everton. That's our aim and remains our aim.

"If we can finish in the top four then so be it, but at the moment our short-term aim is to win next Saturday against Man City, to recover and bounce back and show a reaction that we didn't get on Saturday against Wigan and to attack the last eight or nine games of the season.

"It's the time where we need to stand up for ourselves. We had a disappointing February, picked up our form going into March and then last week was a major setback for us. But this team, this club, has got major character and I fancy us to bounce back."

"I think it was more than disappointing, it was a disastrous weekend for us. It was a disastrous performance and there is no hiding away from it. Personally, I was embarrassed by my own performance, it wasn't good enough as a captain and all the lads feel the same.

"We can't hide away from the fact that we have to take our medicine now, take the criticism that comes our way. We really felt this was going to be our year in the FA Cup but we were beaten on the day by a team that was better than us.

"Sometimes you can lose cup ties and you can be unlucky, but there was no unlucky about it on Saturday, we were well and truly beaten and we need to put that right. We have got two months left in the season and we have to bounce back and get a reaction. That's what the manager wants and I'm confident in the group of players that I share a dressing room with that we will do that."

Speculation regarding Moyes' long-term future at Goodison Park has resurfaced on the back of a cup humbling, but Neville hopes the Scot can be persuaded to prolong an 11-year stint on Merseyside.

He said: "That's something that only the gaffer can answer. I have loved every minute of my time playing with him.

"He has brought all of the players in the squad to the club and we all want him to stay, but that's up to the manager. We aren't using that as an excuse for Saturday's performance -anyone that does, that's a bit of a cop out."

I've had it withEverton this season..... Not arsed about anything Everton related now until the summer...Koff Everton.

It's more than that though really

It's the captain basically saying we're a no mark team lucky to be in the top 10th, on TV, after we got mullered by a team in the relgation zone, when it's becoming less likely we'll finish in the top 6 let alone the top 4.

So yeah, it's more than that

That's hyperbolic, but on the broader point, is it impressive that we finish above 10th every season? Yes. However, is it a 'massive achievement'? I don't think so, but neither do I think it's worth getting annoyed about.

Outrage? Not really. Depression that it's confirmed what we all knew: those players and manager down there think we're a mediocre club. It's no wonder we win **** all with these 'heroes' running round is it?

I cant believe he scowled at fans last month who dared to boo a decision by the manager. As someone said on a phone in the other day: "this feller might be a good pro and gets to bed early and eats bananas, but he's not an Everton player".

He was bang on the money too.

I don't agree that the players and the manager think we're a mediocre club, a few seasons ago Moyes and the players were going on and on about pushing for 4th and they got just as much stick when the season went tits up.

Neville is an excellent pro and is an Everton player, I'm not sure about his banana eating habits though.

He might have been an excellent pro in days gone by. Now he's a crock of **** that's somehow getting a huge wage from this great club.

I dont doubt we'll bounce back from this in the run in. You know why? Because the pressure is off again now. There looks like little chance of achieving any qualifying place even for the EL. With any EXPECTATION off their back they'll start playing and winning again. Nothing surer...just like there's nothing surer that when in the future there's something at stake when we need them to hold their nerve they''ll lose it again and it'll all turn to ashes. That's the cut of this team and their manager. They'll always flatter to deceive because, ultimately, when it comes down to it, they'll always bottle it.

If we can find a better player for the long term I'll be happy to see Neville retire, but until we can find a utility player similar to Neville I'm afraid we're stuck with him - it's not really Neville's fault that we're skint.

For me mate its about understanding your audience or environment , you don't tell bawdy jokes at funerals , you don't ridicule your mates infront of non friends or whatever . It was a bad weekend and we're hurt by the managers position maybe pick your words a little more carefully you know ? Honestly I'm not the type to react and things can look different in context but if your bird is upset you don't say "yeah but at least I'm not out shagging strange evey night am I ? I mean you aren't looking your best lately are you ?" Even if that was true

In other words we'll probably beat Man City or play well and get a draw and then draw or lose to Stoke when we could have closed the gap. But to be honest, I like the way Neville has not given up on top 4. Just hate his top 10 comment, which is obviously the line the higher ups at the club want to push at a time like this (Moyes inspired)

It's nothing to do with us being skint. Moyes had Hitzelberger or Barkely to play in centre mid. Either way once it was clear Neville was being raped then Moyes should have changed it. Then the prick comes out with "good to be in the top 10" crap.

I'm staggered. How can it be a 'massive achievement'? We're one of the biggest clubs in the league as far as history and stature go. For Swansea, Fulham, Sunderland etc.. I wouldn't even call it a massive achievement either. It's the kind of comment you expect from a recently promoted team.

Simply unreal.
