Makes some fair points.

I dont agree with this line "(Kenwright's) persistent portrayal of their club as doomed no-hopers, kept afloat only by his entrepreneurial nous and undying loyalty" being that I dont think his head is that swelled to be going round saying his "entreprenurial" skills are amazing. Its well known he's got money men that he asks favours from on a business level and needs help from time to time.

As for the shopping centre thing -- were we ever asked to have a shop in there by the council? Did we have to ask the council? Did we get the knock back cos all the shop space was bought out? Who knows (unless I aint read it anywhere).

As for buyers -- nobody knows anything either. Are investors interested? Is Kenwright knocking everyone back who have far more money than him? If there's people interested in buying are they the right people? Or does that matter?

Everyone knows what the clubs needs, but there's lots of questions that only people on the inside know the answers for.

I hate that kopite idiot, but now and again he hits the mark with his column, sadly not this time.

Its not BKs fault he hasnt got the money to take us forward and im sure he could have bailed out on us by now to some fool with bundles of cash for him and a life of misery for us. Im not saying everything BK does is right, but i honestly feel he does everything he can in the clubs best interest, his heart is there, sadly the cash isnt.

But his watch this space comment will forever haunt him and will become the rope that hangs him if we dont sign some quality players and a number of them.

So come on Davey stop dragging your heels and splash the cash!

I dont think it is.

Its written with a turgid smugness from the poisoned pen of our most bitter enemy.

Benitez's plans a slap in the face to loyal Reds
McBain 9/08/2008
Rafael Benitez is hoisting the red flag on his attempts to make Liverpool great again in what many will see as a searingly honest assessment of life at the top.
The only way to remain in the Champions League elite, says Liverpools Manager, is to buy a host of crap players. If not you are just an also-ran.
What he fails to question though, is whether also-rans should ever accept that label. Do you refuse to believe a great club can ever settle for second best? Or do you embrace crap players simply on the grounds that your current custodians are relatively flush?
Because many Scouse gits argue that Benitez' persistent spending of their clubs cash on doomed no-hopers, kept afloat only by his septic tank owners and constant fibs, has hastened their descent from English football's Big Five to a plucky little much maligned outfit punching well below their weight.
If anything symbolised the poverty of Liverpools's ambition it came with the recent opening of the £1billion retail transformation of Liverpool city centre. Liverpool FC opened a dead rubbish store there, while keeping open their other citycentre shop for the rest of the rats and lice who wear their outfits. Everton, rightly, didn't want to know. They now have no commercial presence in the heart of their resurgent home town, happy for it to put all of their efforts into a world wide marketing push. Happy to give backing to Blues chants about "the city's all ours cause its a hole" and Everton being "a mega club from the world".
It's one thing Liverpools manager admitting they're also-rans to the glorious Everton on a national scale but to admit it in their own city is a dereliction of duty.
Liverpool have average gates of 40,000 unwashed and several thousand scabs forming an ultra-loyal fan base but is somewhat scurvy afflicted, a grand history, a consistantly unconsistant manager, no production line of young talent and no premier leagues in the past how many seasons, they are statistically the worst side to the Big Four. So how can lesser clubs such as Portsmouth, Manchester City, Aston Villa, Spurs, Newcastle and West Ham be under them, when they shouldnt?

Id say cheating of the top of my head.

Benitez has been singing the same old song about his approach to flog Liverpool winning stuff for years. They always believe him, banging it out whatever he's about to cop stick from fans. And after this dire summer in which they've seen five really [Poor language removed] players join.

Might not make much sense but it made me feel much better!

Nothing wrong with a Chairman essentially saying he's taken the club as far as he personally can take it. BK never said Everton as a club couldn't become everything we think it can be in football. He did say he wasn't the man to get it to that point.

I'll take that over a Richmond or a Ridsdale.

Still believe he needs to at least lay the foundation for a ground plan before he can pass Everton on to (hopefully) more capable hands.
