The Martinez Effect

A thought just crossed my mind. In modern football when managers have about a 1yr lifespan.

If Everton had got rid of Howard Kendall when the going got tough, If Man Utd had got rid of Alex Ferguson when the going got tough. Those great times may never have come about.

Maybe some modern day chairmen should learn some history about football. Patience is a massive virtue. Stability trumps instant success unless instant success comes in it's billions.

Mind you, I sometimes wonder when we have an alternative Everton history thread what might have happened to EFC if Howard ha not turned it round and limped on for another year before being fired.

And Mr. Carter had took a chance on an up and coming manager at Aberdeen :)

i was the biggest worrier around his appointment, and ijjy said " support the team not the manager ', his magnetism and demeanour is boss, i dont mean in a a kopite way either, what a lovely fella he seems, only via the means os official videos like, but people seem to really like him.

Boss fella

the influence Martinez has been on this club is nothing short of astounding. The effect on the pitch and on the existing (Moyes) players was readily evident early on. The change in football philosophy and playing style was a breath of fresh air. But as we are now seeing, Martinez' impact is far reaching beyond the pitch. The same indelible passion and enthusiasm for the game (and our club) that has endeared him to the fans has proven pivotal in attracting a wave of top tier talent. The likes of Lukaku, Barry, Besic, and now Eto'o all committing their futures to Everton has to be attributed to the charismatic Martinez. Bright days ahead for our fine club.

Even I hadn't thought of this. Genius

"Later, when he realised that his work was keeping him from his wife, he had an L-shaped sofa installed in his house. He mounted two TV screens on the two opposing walls and now he watches football on one while his wife watches her TV shows on the other."

But what of Europe? Will Everton really be taking the Europa League seriously?

Finally, Martinez bristles.

"Absolutely," he says defiantly. "Absolutely. We gave 10 months of hard work, it would be stupid for us not to embrace Europe.

This is what I don't understand from some clubs. Why would you kill yourself as a team to get into Europe and then not play your full strength team. It's cheating the fans, esp those who make sacrifices to travel to away games, and the players. I expect nothing less than full strength XI in Europe
