always a boss game this, as much as i mock Neville, his tackle on Ronaldo was a season changer, i always look at this fixture with trepidation.. but love the match day.

Got to believe that if the lads can't get up for this one, going to be a rough go this season.

The win last year has to give them all confidence - wouldn't be suprised to see Rodwell in the lineup here.

Unfortunately young Jack will only be back just before the witching hour/ fireworks start cracking off -we'll need both a trick and a treat at that stage from Rodders I feel.

Be good to see Vic on the bench at least for the game anyway if he's recovered.

Beckford to score nailed on imo... Neville to break a few legs, Cahill to get sent off and Rooney to be a div is a must

His name is Rio and he hoofs it in the stand

Rio Ferdinand is fit enough to start Manchester United's next Premier League game, according to the Red Devils' reserve team boss Ole Gunnar Solksjaer.

The 31-year-old made his return to action on Wednesday evening as he completed 45 minutes of a reserve-team fixture against Oldham Athletic.

Ferdinand has been unavailable for selection since picking up a knee ligament injury during England's World Cup training camp at Rustenburg in June.

But now Solksjaer believes the centre-back is ready to make a return to first-team action in United's next fixture - away to Everton in the Premier League on September 11.

"I think he has progressed well in the last week," Solksjaer said. "He is training hard and we are happy with him, he has had no reaction whatsoever. I don't think [he needs another reserve game]. He is naturally fit, he is going to train with the first team and he'll be ready for selection now.

"He's fit now, match fitness is a different thing, [so] if the manager wants to put him straight in I don't know, it's up to Rio and the manager if they want to give him more minutes."

Brazilian midfielder Anderson, who missed the end of last season after suffering knee ligament damage in February, completed 90 minutes in the Oldham fixture - but Solksjaer was more cautious when asked if he would be in contention to face Everton.

"He's coming along nicely but of course he's had a lot of hard rehab after the knee injury," he said. "He's only been at the club for three weeks, but he lasted 90 minutes and looked fresher towards the end - so that was positive."
