Current Affairs The Make Brexit Great Party Ltd

In many ways it’s deeply troubling that a party with no other policies than ‘BREXIT!’ got within 600 votes of winning.

Thanks Labour activists (?!) for reminding people that things like ‘bin collection’ and ‘allocation of housing’ are important things and things people might want to vote on.

Good to see they've accepted the result with their usual grace:

Brexit party insiders said Labour’s reliance upon a mainly Pakistani vote in inner-city wards had been the difference between the parties. “Some of these houses had 14 people in them registered to vote. It would be interesting to see what proportion voted Labour,” said one.

... and also Farage always thought they'd come second:

Brexit party leader, Nigel Farage, claims he never said his new party could win the Peterborough byelection.
Speaking to BBC Radio 4’s Today programme he said always predicted that Brexit would come second, despite turning up for the count.
“Something very significant happened here last night,” he said.
He said Tory supporters would soon begin to realise that voting Conservative would bring about a Corbyn-led government. “If we don’t leave [the EU] by 31 October, the Brexit Party will power on,” he said. The future is very unpredictable, he said.
“We came from nowhere, produced a massive result,” Farage said.

@Joey66 your man is a weasel amongst weasels

The voting analysis shows that the Brexit party hoovered up the tory voters, yet still labour hung in there. Speaks volumes for your average tory voter who switched allegiance to a one-trick pony that is the Brexit party. This was a by-election FFS!

Tory voters are complete and utter rats.

Evidently not just Tory. Both the Conservative and Labour share of the vote was greatly reduced. No doubt every politician will be telling us that they ‘won’ on the Tv today.....

The labour drop was taken up mostly by the Lib dems. My point is this was a by-election to elect an MP who will represent your constituency in parliament. To fight and argue your case on all matters such as health, education, transport, welfare, jobs etc... And the scummy tory voters switched to the Brexit party who only have a single point of existence and that is to leave the EU with a no-deal.

They need to give their heads a wobble.
