When Birmingham turn us over on Saturday the balance will be restored.

I actually want to stuff Brum all over the show, they took the mick out of us twice this season already. I think they are a better away side then home to be honest, will be tough though! Fulham are brutal away as well.

Carsley hatrick nailed on.

Looking good for seventh for the Europa lads in summeray its on!

As of the 2009–10 season qualification for the UEFA Champions League changes, the top four teams in the Premier League qualify for the UEFA Champions League, with the top three teams directly entering the group stage. Previously only the top two teams qualified automatically. The fourth-placed team enters the Champions League at the play-off round for non-champions and must win a two-legged knockout tie in order to enter the group stage.[18] The fifth team automatically qualifies for the UEFA Europa League, and the sixth and seventh-placed teams can also qualify, depending on the winners of the two domestic cup competitions. If one of the cup winners qualifies for Europe through their league position, the sixth-placed team in the Premier League will qualify for the Europa League. If both of the cup winners qualify for Europe through their league position, the sixth and seventh-placed teams in the Premier League will qualify for the Europa League.

Semi Final Draw:

Aston Villa v Chelsea
Fulham/Tottenham v Portsmouth

So say Chelsea and Spurs are in the final its likely 7th will get in Europe next season.

We had our chance in the competition and blew it big time.
If God exists, he would have to be one big Everton fan to justify us deserving another crack at it next year.

I hope Fulham win Europa, and Portsmouth win the cup.
We'll have to finish 5th for me to be totally happy.

I think Gods a little occupied with the Champions League to take that much of an intrest in the Europa mate!

If Fulham makes the final I would root for them though, Hodgson deserves a cup for what he's done there.

The Deuce should be getting ready to return as well.. Fulham is a different team with the Deuce on the field..

Well he is supposed to be Omnipresent, so im sure he can keep half an eye on both. He's make an ace scout tho :o

Correct me if im wrong but are we 7 pts behind the rs with a game in hand?

That is correct. Villa are 4 ahead, with two games in hand on us :(

With Portsmouth not even applying for a UEFA license, 7th is looking good for Europa.
And Everton is looking better and better for 7th!

I would hope we can make it but we need to win and others to lose rather than banking on cup results. A lot of points adrift.

even though i think our team is more than good enough (when fit) for europe , i think there is a hell of a lot to do still to gain the euro spot.

liverpool and villa are clearly the teams to target and there 4-7 points clear , we have a game in hand on liverpool and villa have a game in hand on us.

we have 4 games at home and 6 away , left to play .

birmingham (a), man city (a), fulham (h) stoke (a) villa (a)are in direct competition with us in the league standing.
(the first 3 teams mentioned are imo the 3 most improved teams in the prem this year.)

bolton (h) , wolves (a) west ham (h) , blackburn (a) , portsmouth (h) are all in a relegation scrap so although not the best of teams , they will be fighting out results.

i think its very important that we win all our home games + get good results brum and villa in particular.if we can do that then a euro spot will be very close.

Good post mate agreed!

Apparently we're looking to extend Donovan's loan by 1 month, up to April 15th. I think I'm correct in saying that that timeframe would cover the games against Birmingham (which was a given anyway), City and Villa. It would be a great boost if we had him for those games.

Just wondering, if you were offered 7th place now, European football, finishing ahead of the RS, would you take it? And would you have taken it at the start of this season?
