The 'Left Wide Forward' Position

Your commitment to the Lookman is a central player hill is admirable I'll give you that but lets be honest him and Bernard and possibly Dowell are the cover at RF right now. I'd agree that at some point we are gonna have to look for an actual right wing and I'd suggest that next summer might be the time for that depending on what happens. Center forward is going to depend on what actually happens with Cenk and DCL this season and who is available because it really is the hardest position to get players of quality.

Personally i think keeping Lookman and seeing Onyekuru joining the ranks next summer will pose a few questions.

If we are looking at next season (which i suspect Brands and Silva will have an eye on) then we will have to again focus on CB and CM (zouma and gomes only on loan) as well as CF. Thats a lot of money for starters to aim for a big push.

With so many players able to play on the left then even if Lookman is pigeon holed there we would have a minimum of him + Richarlison + Onyekuru.

If all are developing well then we really need to try Lookman centrally + Richarlison up front.

Its a pity that none of them have experience on the right side...which of course may have been why we were linked to Malcom.

Key things to be aware of this season;

A-- It will be interesting to see who comes in for the injury prone Walcott on the right side as i feel if someone plays well there then there may be a starting position up for grabs.

B-- How good is Bernard

C-- Will we try Richarlison up front

D-- Where will Lookman play

A-- Yes it will be but Walcott when healthy is very good so it may be a case of trying to develop someone
B-- Hopefully good enough to be an option in the various attacking roles
C-- My guess is no but who knows. Does he have some skills that could translate? Yes. Does that mean he necessarily needs to be moved? Maybe not. A lot of what has made him effective is how unusual his type is out wide. For example if he is the center forward he probably doesn't score that goal vs S'ton because he has a tougher physical matchup vs the CB instead of the RB.
D-- My suspicion with Lookman is that he is basically he's been told this year he has to stay and play under Silva even if he doesn't like it. However given his position is probably occupied by better or at least comparable level players regardless of where you think it is, he probably won't get enough game time to make him happy. So next summer he will still be unhappy and this whole thing will be happening again and he will leave.

Lookman
Richarlison DCL Henry

That’s how my all conquering FIFA19 team will be set up.

How many games has Lookman played centrally to think he would be a suitable option for that position. I haven't ever seen him play there, but I haven't seen every game he has played.

None for Everton at least but he has the attributes.

Played a few times there for RBL. Also for England U21s. Looked good in fairness and more involved.

Dunno if you were taking the mick mate, but come on. Both Henry and Ronaldo are truly exceptional players. We're not talking that level here are we.

I’m taking the mick. You can’t say one way or the other. People speculating on whether a 21 year old who’s played 2 games should play up front or not is, frankly, stupid.

I'd just like to get a couple more left footers in the squad. At the moment, keeper aside, all we have are the 2 left backs and Kieran Dowell. Assuming Dowell is going to get limited playing time, it means we're playing all our games with just 1 outfield left footer, and I think that lacks balance.

I suppose it's an improvement on most of last season when we didn't have any.:)
