Down here its never heard.. I use boss a little.. but I know my lads read stuff on here when I leave it on.
Its usually 'epic' with him.. but today he was ' like a boss'...

I have my eldest lad using the word " blert ". Confuses his mates with it.

I have heard them use similar when arguing.. and it comes out in my very diluted accent.. It can backfire as Im sure you know.

I know only too well. Mind you, I can use Scouse insults up here and nobody knows what they mean . They might think it's a compliment
