Interesting thing I discovered today through living with someone with a pyschology degree.
There's a thing called the Benjamin Franklin effect that means if something happens once, you're more likely to accept it and have it happen again because your mind accepts it as normal. Which means that the best way to get a favour from someone isn't to do them a favour but actually to ask for a smaller favour first, because once they've done you that they're more likely to view you more fondly and do you the big favour you wanted in the first place.
