The Latch

Yeah my dad talks about him a lot. I always say, if only big Dunc was on the end of that. He would say if only big Bob was on the end of that! This thread reminds me I need to search for some YouTube of him.
Dunc was better in the air , honestly think only andy Gray and joe Royle could compete with him on that score in my time, possibly Eastoe could hold it up better .
But honestly big bob was on a diffrent level than Dunc player wise,
Better finisher and player if they were the same age available at the same time, I would buy Latch every time even if the fee was treble.
Take him over Rom as well.

The Latch was great in the box. Good on one on ones with the keeper, but can't really remember him doin much outside the box. Remember him getting his 30th against Chelsea. Was in the St End. I'm sure he nearly missed it. Hit it straight at the keeper but he'd dived and it just missed his legs if I remember. God we were gonna conquer the world back then.

Can't fault Dunc's aerial prowess, but Latchford was the master of the near post flicked header. Sometimes the touch was so subtle I wondered if he had even got there from my Street End perspective.
