I would love us to kick off the transfers early this year, hope we get this guy he looks promising.

I'm made up with that. It's about time we played some quality teams in pre-season. I might even see if I can get tickets.

Unlikely if he is already playing in England there would no problem about anything such as work permit, the only possiblities is fees which I hope it was already agreed, not discuss term with the player then get a fees sorted afterward! We have been there which I hope we have learned our lesson already!

Yeah it should go through ok if he comes here but you know what we're like! Something will find a way to go wrong when we try to get things sorted early.
 
Is it true that he has a release clause ?

Any clue what kind of signing bonus _salary he would want ?

Would be interesting to learn whether bringing him in would free up space in the potential war chest for a big money signing...rather than diluting it to sign several players.
 
The main stumbling blocks I'd imagine would be wages and the medical.

Hopefully we've freed up enough moolah through the Vaughan and Pienaar deals to give him what he want.

If I remember correctly he failed a medical at Stoke and West Ham got him cheap due to his past injury problems so I think we'll put him through a pretty stringent work out to make sure his knee won't explode the moment he steps on the pitch for us.

If he is really available for nowt in terms of transfer fees his signing on fee would probably be in the millions I'd guess.

After all he loses out on a loyalty bonus by requesting the transfer.
