Despite being Demba Ba's #1 fan on here, I won't be too bothered if he doesn't sign so long as we have players of a similar or better quality being looked at.

Shane Long, Bothroyd and even Klose when that was on... they're just not good enough. We need at least 1 quality striker in his prime; no has-beens, no "could be decent in a year" bargain buys and no frigging Bothroyd. I don't mind signings like these if they're going to be 3rd choice, but we should be looking for someone to partner Beckford for me. And/or someone to start as a lone striker, if Moyes refuses to change to 4-4-2.

I know we have no money, but it's of the utmost importance that we sign someone good up front. If that means selling an asset, then so be it. We need to strengthen up front.

Best case scenario he comes, has a season of adjustment and goes on to be really good.

So this is why a.) I don't want someone like him to be our only striker signing, as he wouldn't be able to hit the ground running and b.) I wouldn't object to signing him as 3rd choice, as he has potential for the future.

True, mate. But I didn't think Beattie was all that myself, and AJ only ever had one good season. So did Jay Jay Okocha ffs. Demba Ba, in this case, has a consistent record of scoring goals everywhere he's been.
