His vision and reading of the game is excellent. He has the ability to spot space and spread the ball around the pitch effectively when the build up at either flank became stagnant and overcrowded. We tend to lose the ball due to our elaborate buildup in tight space down the flank. With Heit, he's intelligent to switch channel once he realise we're going nowhere.

Agreed, he can really open the game up for us with his long range passing ability. At times we go short to feet far too often, whereas Heitinga can just spread the play with relative ease.

He's been a fantastic signing for us, I don't think there is a defensive player around with his vision. He's a real gem, and he really 'gets' Everton, which is a good thing.
