Early signs look promising at centre mid, bucket loads of passion and seems to have some very decent passes in his locker. I thought he looked dodgy at RB if I'm honest but it was early days for him at the club so was trying to reserve judgement. I'm just not sure he'll stick around to be long term successor to Phillip "Versitility" Neville though.:(

It'll be interesting to compare Heit with De Jong. I've not seen enough of both but I reckon De Jong offer more pace.
Dutch Toffee?

he really impressed me when he got injured on saturday. elbowed in the face (in the box, no penalty of course), blood was pouring out of his face. He gets it covered on the sideline and immediately sprints back into the game, you could tell it was killing him to be sidelined, i love having that kinda determination in our team.

edit: he also really makes the lescott deal seem completely worth it. A little off topic but i didn't think this warranted its own thread. Distin has fulfilled lescott's defensive responsibilities well, and Bily has proven to be the effective winger our team has been looking for. So its sort of like heitinga was a utility man to provide icing on the cake, what an excellent piece of business. Having the australian captain on our bench just in case is also nice :)

De Jong best position is as a defensive midfielder, as where Heitinga can play there, but prefers to play at CB. De Jong certainly offers more pace, but he's more like someone who breaks up play. Heitinga is by far the better passer of the ball, between the both of them.

Still to early days for me to join in a Heitinga appreciation thread, but it looks like he perfectly fits in with the physical demands of the PL. Lets just say he's starting to win me over.

One of the Hull players had the ball at his feet tonight in the 94th minute stalling to take a throw in.

Johnny ran 20 yards and picked it up and put it in the hull players hands.

I love this kind of attitude.

yup. we've been missing this kind of passion in the middle for some time. he has some skill to back it up too. he can pick out a tasty pass and is finding his feet positionally week by week..

expect him to grow stronger through the season.. hopefully he can inspire a few of those around him too!

don't want to expect too much like..

Is he our only good player now? He must truly wonder what he has come to...although saying that Atletico aren't doing any better than us in Spain...maybe he's bad luck!
