 That's not a big prediction at all. It may be that we won't be in the Europa league but not because we've gotten worse, rather because other teams have spent a lot and gotten better.

Like who? City. Spurs? Villa? Just City in my eyes. Spurs have not strengthened more than us.

Barry is a massive blow to Villa and they havent got anyone to replace him.

I think Spurs have quality in depth and a steady manager. I'd put a bet on them fighting for 4th over Citeh IMO.

They have not improved in my eyes on last seasons squad. We have. They have a very shaky defence, and I actually felt they had a better team 2 years ago.

I think we'll finish above Villa.
I think spurs have strengthened. Significantly. Look how much they spent in January. From that point forward they did better than us in the league. They finally have some good central defenders, and a top DM in Palacios. They've taken care of their weak points, finally. It was only a matter of time that they take us over with the net amount they've spent.

I think we'll finish above Villa this season. We have the strongest squad we've ever had under moyes.

But why Spurs?

They have signed Kranjaer, Crouch and Bassong. Not exactly going to set the Premier league alight.

Defoe, Crouch, Keane, Pavlychenko as strikers...
Kranjcar, Modric, Jenas, Lennon, Huddleston, Bentley, Palacios in the midfield. They can play some great football IMO.

Defensively they are worrying being that 4 out of their 5 or so are injured 90% of the time. Other than that, very strong.

We haven't actually spent a penny after two 5th place finishes to improve the squad. Disappointing.

I'm giving it a few more hours, I don't believe we won't sign anyone else.

Moyes said he expected at least 4 new players. 4

Thats right Danny, we've spent nothing for a few yrs now. weres all the money goin? Didnt we actually make a profit last year? Maddening.

I agree . Spurs will be strong and will last the pace alot better than some supposed experts are predicting . I reckon they will finish top 6 easily . Man City WILL fade . Not saying this because of whats gone on but the bubble will burst eventually and when it does they will struggle to get it together . Players Adebayor are all well and good when its rocking & rolling but when its backs to the wall they go missing .

Our squad remains on the small side in numbers, still vulnerable like last season to injuries.

We have brought players in on the back of the Lescott money so have not had to get loans elsewhere that has to be good business. I would say our squad has been strengthened.

The season will be tough, it is every year but this year there are now 5 clubs with big financial backing, not counting Portsmouth. But they have had it unless they do something miracolous in January.

Intriguing however is that City have to get into Champions League, Europa will not be good enough for the rich Arab and coulod mean Hughes will only have this season. If City do get up there, how is one of the perennial top 4 going to like dropping down to the Europa and little money.

We have at last 3 points on the score board so lets look to add to it.

Memo to Davey, please try and play with more than one striker upfront now and again.

Expand, spot on how?

Spot on in saying we are improving and we'll do well. As I said, remember PM conversation last pre-season?

We got lucky to an extent with a few core signings, particularly Lescott, Cahill and Jagielka. These bargain buys from the Championship and lower don't really exist anymore, especially if Moyes expresses an interest, see Delph and Naughton.

For the first time I think we've reached our peak.

I need some happy pills.
