Sure there must be a few Jam Fans on here

Just listening to all Mod Cons and it got me thinking about some of the gigs I had been to

Probabvly one of the best ever was the Benefit Concert 'March Against unemployment' gig in 1981 at the Royal Court Theatre from what I remember it was a ***** amazing gig

Anyone else there ( Older fraternity obviously) (y)

Saw David Bowie, Eurythmics, and Genesis at an open air concert in front of the Reichstag in West Berlin in 1988 or maybe 1989 cant quite remember the year....Unbelievable, and it apparently triggered a full scale riot in East Berlin, as the Easties went bezerk

Back on topic ...sorry Nev...I did see the Jam in 82 at the deeside leisure center....top show as I recall

I've not seen them live Nev, but I've covered a few songs in the past.
I never knew Bowie sung in The Jam though. :P

I bet there's some nouveau mods hiding their fish tail parkas and not piping up here.

My best mate (rs, nobody's perfect) is a massive Jam/Weller fan and was probably there. On this forum Iknow Welton Toffee is a massive fan but is too young to have been there. A2B Chris might be your man. I myself have always liked the Jam (was listening to an old tape the other day with 'Setting Sons' on one side and 'Inflammable material' by SLF on the other side- Superb. and yes I've still got cassettes), but was more a Costello fan in that period. Boss band though and Weller is one of the best song writers ever imo.

some of my mates have never stopped wearing them.
There's a massive, and I mean massive, scooter run that leaves from near me every year at easter, may not be on now as the police won't cover it, thousands of 'em (gingers egg run). They take easter eggs to the kids hospital in manc. some of the scooters are fantastic.

Given the choice though I'd have a cafe racer.

I used to be a massive fan, i saw them around 7 or 8 times in Glasgow in the late 70`s early 80`s. Saw their last ever gig in Scotland at the old Glasgow Appollo, one of my best gigs ever

never seen the Jam,
Went to see Paul Weller open air in Hyde park,
got Tw*ted on the way there cant remember a thing apart from the sunburn the next day
good gig (y)

Think i went to both royal court & deeside gigs mentioned as i seen them at both around that time. i seen them 8 times in all, never seen the style council, but seem him solo loads

Nev, just in the last week ive listened to all mod cons for the first time in ages. my all time favorite album

Weird this thread popping up now cos I've been almost anally going through their back catalogue this past week or so! But yes Jamo is correct, massive fan here. Weller is my hero and The Jam are my favourite band. VERY jealous of all you old gits who got to see them live :P Been lucky enough to see Weller 3 times though including at my uni last term, which was the best night of my life bar none! Really want to go down to London to see one of his Royal Albert Hall gigs in May, going to have to wait and see how the student loan holds up til easter though!

My Uncle first got me into Weller and he went to see The Jam on quite a few occasions. Favourite album is probably All Mod Cons but I love all of them (even This Is The Modern World which I believe got ripped by critics at the time?!). Got all The Jam and Weller solo albums on CD, can't wait for his new one in April. Bruce Foxton plays bass on a couple of tracks which should be good! My bedroom at home is like a shrine to Mr. Weller, legend!

I'm a big fan as well, not in Welton Toffees league, and All Mod Cons is my favourite Jam album, and one of the most played albums in our house. Brough it the week it came out and played it ever since.
