The Internet

It is also interesting to try and pinpoint when in your career answering emails became a measure of 'work done' as opposed to actual 'work' done.

Thank God I have retired.

90% of emails were absolute Whum.

I would spend (waste) 2 hours of Monday mornings, clearing all this junk.

Also on-line training used to be about doing your job more efficiently, but latterly it has become political indoctrination.

I think it was Limewire, an old 56kb dial up modem and it must have been the late 90’s. A young teenage boy and his mate realising they could download a music video for a band they were really into back then (can’t remember the band). It took forever and a day to finally download.
We were so excited! So we open up the video, and guess what it is?!

The nastiest German scat porn video you’ll ever see! I don’t want to go into details, but it still haunts me to this day. 🤦‍♂️

I was around 5 years old when my dad brought home a computer from work, and I've been sat in front of one ever since.

I think we first had internet in 1999 when I was 6 years old. Compuserve. We had a load of people from the estate come over and take a look.

Late 90s. Was in the MSN chat rooms and downloading tunes off Napster and Kazaa, in between fighting my dad to allow me to use the Internet for a few extra minutes. I remember once attempting to download a movie clip and it being some Russian beheading video instead, somewhat disconcerting to the unwitting 14-15 year old.
