The Great Disconnect - why we love our team but need the club to rebuild our trust

Ta.

You didn't actually answer with a Yes or a No, but I'm reading between the lines and going for a maybe leaning towards a Yes !

It's tricky though. Off-hand I can think of half a dozen posters on here ( including you ) who could offer something to the club which would defo add a lot both from fan's persepective.

In the real world I know one person who's "suitably qualified" who has been involved on the outskirts in the past and could doubtless add something now.

But is that enough to justify a position on the board ?

My gut reaction is no, those people should have some influence and, in the same way that the BoD of a "normal" company would, they should be seriously listened to, but taking them fully into the decision making process is too much.

If some sort of fans representative was added to the board, I would be very wary ( I'm assuming some sort of election here ) of anyone who put themselves for such a post.

I'd also be uncomfortable with the idea that such a fan's representative would need to be "suitably qualified".

FTAOD - I am categorically ruling myself from any such post which may exist in the future, may God strike me dead / @micknick or @Groucho ban me if I show any interest in such a post at the club !

Good post mate.

I think the post of being the fan's representative on the board would be a hugely difficult task, not so much from the point of board duties but from the point of trying to represent such a broad and diverse group of passionate fans.

Having said that I don't think it is impossible and I'd welcome the opportunity to discuss the merits of such a position with the board should they wish to discuss it.

They'd be vilified and attacked as a puppet.

Anyone thinking of taking up that role would be well advised not to.

Of all that I wrote in my article the least important is fan representation.

By far the most important is communication and improved corporate governance, particularly the board composition.

Not being off or anything mate, and I know how passionate and genuine you are, but you're even more of a control freak than I am !

You need your bumps feeling :)

Occasionally, well very rarely really, you ( Mrk ) are right. i suspect this is one of those times.

We need a fan representative that is passionate and willing to take risks to be successful. We do not need someone who just wants the usual comfortable status quo. Therefore this person must be a Brexit Leave voter.........

If the owner, whoever that may be now or in the future, ever decided to accept a shareholding by a supporters trust, would that negate fan opposition to lack of communication. Or, would it simply mean that when we're not winning, the trust would get the backlash instead?
Just wondering really because normally, throughout our history, we have won trophies and it's only when we don't that we look for answers.
I think I know how it'd go because, in this country, we don't really have much experience in the continental fan owned model.

I don't think the disconnect is solely at goodison. I think it's rife throughout top flight football. The pre season lure of unearthing a diamond in the transfer window, appointing the next pep guardiola or your club finally exceeding premier league expectations, keeps the fire in your bellies until reality sets in again. Usually October for us, February for arsenal fans.

Hundreds of thousands of football fans are likely to feel disconnected to modern day chairmen who have only a monetary tie and not a historical passion towards their clubs.
Fans also feel disconnected from the players who lead diametric lives to the average man.

When living in Manchester, speaking to United fans, match going fans were losing connection to each other too. Members of families/friends being priced out of their habitual season tickets and replaced by new waves of football tourism prepared to pay higher entrance fees. Fans sharing a season ticket when they once went together.

What could change this? Yes communication from top down is a start and those at the bottom listened to too re ticket pricing, new stadium designs etc

There's a lot of money being earned in the premier league, the fans are taken for granted. The soul and communities of football clubs have made English football so globally appealing and gradually these are being lost...Roy keane once eluded to this.

If a bigger stadium meant more affordable seating then I'm hopeful. If it means more debt funded by higher priced tickets then personally I'm anxious for everything that has made everton great....the fans and those players who gave their all for this club.

If anyone was soft enough to become a fans representative, I reckon they'd pack it in in very short order.
I cannot imagine trying to keep the fanbase happy and thankless task springs to mind.

If anyone is suited to this role, it is @Woolly Blue who, rumour has it/allegedly has a library of images that will distract the baying crowds.
i reckon woolly blue wants the job and is warning the esk off it. That's what I'm seeing here.

It's true, I have pics of Kenwright and Elstone's genitals.

So far I havn't managed to con Moshiri into dropping his pants and shaking his todger around, but it's just a matter of time ..

So no Woods, Ryazantsev, Harris or Barrett-Baxendale genitalia?
Interesting...

Woods hasn't seen his own genitals for forty years.
Ryazantsev scares me.
Harris is a c0ck
Denise is lovely and doesn't flash her muff unnecessarily

*Ainsdale dogging in the past though ... allegedly ?

If there's a member ( *snigger ) of the board who I havn't defamed in the last hour wheel 'em out and I'll take a shot !

*Coat on, legs it for last train to Ainsdale
