The facts dont support the notion we've slipped away from the top 6

But you can use the same stats to say how far we've fallen behind Leicester city as their 2015 points are way ahead of us.
Let's just use the table for judging the team before we go full RAWK and start a 'kin "Par" table.
With respect, Leicester are not and never will be in the reckoning for top 6.

Fine. Ignore it. But the second half of the season to this point proves we are keeping touch with the teams others have (illicitly) placed above us on the basis of a poor season.

I'm not ignoring it, I'm just looking at it in context.

You could compare August - January for the same set of sides and draw a completely different conclusion - it'd be equally as irrelevant as we play a 38 game season.

If only the season started in January.

Sadly it doesn't.
Quite, but nevertheless, that's why football makes quite a bit out of form guides.

This underlines the exaggeration that's been made about our 'falling away'. Yes, we fell away. Did we recover and keep pace with our natural rivals for the Euro spots? Yes we did.

Take it or leave it. The point stands.

Doesn't really matter. As long as we are at least mid-table for a couple of seasons then I feel long term progress will be made. I look at the squad we have now and can see youngsters coming through to challenge the regulars. This club under Martinez is growing stronger and stronger. We will lose some good players along the way but (hopefully) the money from those losses will add more talent and our depth of players will be better than ever before. It will be a slow process and we will have some turgid football as well as some great football but nevertheless will be getting stronger. We need to gel and that will be it. Rome wasn't built in a day and Martinez will use his time to make us strong. Short term we may suffer but its worth it.

You know what would have been an interesting point if you'd have made it?

The impact the Europa League had on us. That would have made these stats interesting as it adds a variable.

who are these others of which you speak??? those teams were placed above us because of points gained, not because the mysterious "others"put them there, what devilish game are you playing here?

And thank goodness our form was so good from January onwards, because if it hadn't have been, we'd have been relegated.

2014/15 was a season of two halves, and the concerns of both sides of the argument were equally valid and justified.
