The FA Cup Final; Manchester City v Watford.

Ah, the battle to decide who owes the RS an apology tomorrow for something or somewhat or nothing at all.

If broadcasters or media want this to be a big deal then they should treat it as such, not spend their time telling us how much it's diminished. There's barely been a mention of the game I had to check the kick off time, everyone used to know it was 3pm and there was worldwide interest.

******

As for the game itself I can't see anything other than a City win. Earlier in the season I didn't want them to be the first side to win the domestic treble, as I believe there have been better sides down the years who've not achieved it. To be fair to City they've been incredible since Christmas, it's taken tremendous mental strength to do what they have - I also feel they've saved football from a new era of RS success. Because of that I won't mind them sweeping the board.

Normally I would want an underdog to win in most cases, and it would be good for the tournament to have a different winner. But Watford as a club and fanbase haven't endeared themselves to me.

Hopefully we get a enjoyable early evening of entertainment.

If City win Wolves go into the second qualifying round of the Europa League, and United qualify for the Europa League group stages
But If Watford win Wolves miss out and it's United that have to go into the July qualifying rounds, how mad is that.

Really United need City to win.

tbh i forgot it was even on today, even the league cup final seems a bigger event nowadays. This domestic final seems to be all a bit after the Lord Mayor's show, so after the hugely absorbing title run in and just before the big European finals, an interlude almost forgotten about, even the exciting week of playoffs has overshadowed it.

There'll still be quite a few spaces today in the City end I reckon despite the paid for coaches laid on. This is nothing compared to the title, just a nice add-on at the end to complete the treble, or quadruple in Pep's eyes, as he still laughably insists on including the charity shield.

For clubs as big as City it's major honours that count, and they've won one and lost out in one, the domestic cups are merely steps towards counting honours at the end of the season and seeing whether it's a treble or better.

I want City to hammer them even if it means far less than it ever has before.

Watford will have bitter disappointment and a bottom half finish to show as an achievement in their best season ever.

Will emphasise just how small time they are.

How times change, FA Cup Final day and hardly a mention.

City going for a domestic treble and it’s hard to see anything but them winning. I’ll be happy if City win, but I got Watford in the pub FA Cup draw, the winner gets £300, the runner-up £150 so it’s a little interest for me.
Watford win means no Community Shield for the RS, so come on you Hornets! ;)

I see this as northerners southerners with no real affection for either team (aoart from the heroics citteh have just achieved in saving football for all humankind).

I will always root for the northern team in such situations (unless it's the rs).

Where's the BBC's buildup? Interviews? Games? Question of sport special? Geesh they really knew how to do a build up for this blue riband event.

Then "progress" happened. :coffee:
It's a knockout even.

Oh hang on.

Been watching football first, it's all about Watford (mentioned and shown us beating them in the 80's like)

It's well known the big dogs at the BBC are reds, no mention of a historic treble for city etc.

It's a shame. The coverage used to start early doors with various faces dressed in ill-fitting suits and Brucie leading the community singing and military bands etc.

Game's gone soft - or hard - or something.

In a game that that doesn't involve them, how long will it take from kick-off to?

  1. Mention the RS
  2. Mention that the RS ran City close in the Premiership
  3. Mention that the RS are also in a Cup Final
  4. Mention when the RS played Watford this season
  5. Mention when the RS played Man City this season
  6. Mention an obscure relationship between a player and the RS
  7. Mention a previous Cup Final the RS won.

It’s real. It’s from the official twitter.

Have you seen a more pathetic football club?
They might have just replaced Southampton in my “small club small fans” list.

Any other team and I’d want them to beat City today.
