After pompy played cardiff in the final last year we all were thinking.. if only we had put more effort in to it..do you think we will treat it like a premiership match this year?personally i think it is a crying shame the FA cup has turned in to a SIMOD Cup (remember that!) type tournament.

i really dont know why but i feel this year will be a classic fa cup.

i predict us knocking out liverpool at some point.

i also fancy villa and us in the final.

I dont think it has gone SIMOD low yet, but it clearly doesnt get the big guns excited anymore, which is fine with us, let them play Europes Elite in the CL, we got the Maccas away 3rd round, would love a trip to that there London.

that would be amazing! i think after the disappiontment of europe we need to go on a good cup run.

I'm torn because I'd like to see us do the best we can but we need to give a few players a rest. Hence potential playing time for Gosling, VDM, etc....

Yes, but it is all part of Moyes masterplan, get knocked out of the Carling and Uefa early and go all out on the FA Cup and League. He doesnt make mistakes Moyes, hes like the grandmaster of Chess, always 10 moves ahead.

Watch this space.

thats the first "watch this space" of 2009
congrats !

back to topic.
imo everton have always been a very good cup team (as have villa) , but under moyes i think its fair to say we have fallen a bit short of our usual fa cup standard.

with no eufa and league cup to worry about and the heartache of getting knocked out of both very early , i feel moyes will really be out to right a few wrongs and would see the fa cup as the best opportunity to do so.

imo i think the tougher teams we face , the further we will go.
ie if we get the best we will do well , if we get little clubs , we may slip up.

everton just seem better when we are up against it.

I disagree to be honest mate, i think we will do well this year, but the draw MUST be kind to us, i think we will easily dispose of the lesser clubs and i would fancy ANYBODY at Home, even tho our Home form is dire, i just think a tricky Away tie at another Prem League club could be our downfall, i cant see us going out to anybody below the Prem.

But hey for me the Glass is always half full.

And i apologise in advance for the almost obscene use of the "Watch This Space" quote. Its transfer window time and its what the window means to me now.

Moyes has actually said that he's gonna go for it, I just read it somewhere about half an hour ago. ToxtethBlue will provide the link in a minute.

Im sorry but TB doesnt have links in his locker, hes not about facts and figures, hes more of a flair player. I mean the lads still young so he could adapt his game, but i just think your expecting too much from the young lad.

Let's see how he deals with it, I think you might be surprised.

Think he will rest quite a few players, the league is more important from a finance point of view

I reckon you're right, mate. I would do the same if I was Moyes. Chances of us winning the FA cup are a lot slimmer than us finishing high in the league. The league has to be the priority. Of course, if we get to the quarter finals after a few lucky draws, I'm sure the plan will change and the cup will be high priority again.

I wouldn't rest anyone Hb, we are already out of the UEFA and league cups so it's not like we've got loads of fixtures together like last year. Keep the momentum going in the team. Maybe give Gosling a game as he's been playing well and bring Baxter on for the last 25-30 mins

In all fairness tho his options to rest players are fairly limited. I mean do we have 22 players fit? Could we name a "2nd 11", i think the rest the players have got untill the Hull game will help, but he will want to rest 2-3 players, more so they dont pick up a silly injury or something.
