The Everton Board Thread

I don't think we really know how that side of the club is run to be fair. It's not working, but it feels a bit reductive to just jump to the easy conclusion of saying we don't scout people. Obviously we all know about the likes of Iwobi, Sigurdsson and Bolasie being wastes of money as 'PL proven' players, but like i said, there are lots of players who would theoretically fit into the category we're talking about. On paper Klaasen, Sandro, Vlasic, Lookman, Nkounkou, Branthwaite, Patterson, Mykolenko, Garner, Onana, McNeil, Gbamin and plenty of others all fit the sort of profile we're talking about to different extents, but very few of them have actually been a success here, and a number of them haven't really gone on to show that it was just the environment here that was the issue either, it's more that we've just not got the recruitment side of it right. Again, while we've been particularly bad at it, we're far from the only ones. It's a staggeringly simple model in theory but it's not that easy to do it well, otherwise everyone would do it because like I said, it's common sense.
I mean we don't know it but it's painfully obvious what's actually happening and how we're crap at it, which is why it's not working.

We clearly don't scout well at all, and unless a manager wants a player badly (which is also not how it's supposed to work) we get absolute "local" duds. The fact Branthwaite might come good doesn't mean we operate well - all the players mentioned were players the DoF's at the time knew about, and some were "right player - wrong time" sort of deal, as they've been good elsewhere.

We're unlike any other club in European Football.
Our situation is dire. Any schmo could walk in and I would feel instantly better about us, as long as the current toads are booted out.
Once you get past that high though, all of the same problems still exist, and there is no quick fix to this long term plummet of ours.
It really is a chore seeing any hope in us atm
Bang on, we were not exactly stable before Kenwright but his 19 years of incompetence have led to our current plight As you say there are no quick fixes.
Surely we can hope and seek an owners structure which is capable of reflecting reality and developing a strategy and plan to meet that need. Something which has been entirely absent.

The one thing i like about this is that we'd be the crowning jewel and have our own scouting network throughout Europe and South America via these other teams owned by 777.

KInd of like a Red Bull i suppose.
There’s a lot more upside than downside to this sort of arrangement, and in particular when our scouting has been unimaginative to say the least having access to a wider network would be a big deal. We have to be Watford signing Richarlison or Lille signing Onana, not the next step on.

I mean that's yet another complete misunderstanding/just plain wrong take but I don't want to derail the thread so we'll leave it there.

Just read another athletic article from 2021 about 777 and Sevilla. I get the impression they want to modernise and globalise, a bit like what Ryasantsev apparently wanted to do. Whether they are any good is another question I guess
Well in principal it sounds good…..only 30 years too late like, and hopefully we won’t have Uncle Bill demanding to remain a local club for local people

Cool story mate.

You've all just gone back to Jan to find and read the lads posts, it’s Friday night mate, work it out. Theres a bigger picture here - your’e all being played. ;)

Is there someone somewhere reading your posts from Jan! lol

Id maybe step back, reflect and enjoy your night mate! ;)
You can't really be played if everyone knew what foreverblert92 was all along. ;)

I’m taking this as hugely positive news. It means a credible sports investment company has ploughed through Everton’s finances and decided that despite the poor performance of the playing team and the board, and the impending financial investigation, that they still see a way of making a successful return on their money. That would give me far greater hope for the future- even if we end up going down this season- knowing that there are people in charge who have a plan to turn things round.

A blind man can see that there is money to be made from the club, especially with our passionate support.

It does however require the club to be run correctly, which will happen once these jokers are binned.
