Yes, and then you'd have had the slower decline of the club by taking it away from its core support and destroying its identity.

I'd rather be where we are now than that alternative.

What slower than now where even Stoke are buying players, we are not safe from relegation and we can't rub two pennies together?

Perhaps the Cauldron distortion field is alive and well?

dk was an awful idea but it was the only hope for the board - and it appeared to be thier only plan. to call people for objecting to it because it was kenwrights everton only hope is daft - most who objected never had much affection for bill/wyness/current board anyway.

I'm gonna say it again. If DK had gone ahead, we might have been in a position where Kenwright could have sold his shares to outside investors and we would have had a new ground - something very few billionaires are going to invest in. I said at the We might have had someone who was able to put serious money into the team. At the time of the decision I said that this was the start of the slow decline of Everton.

Given the boards inability / unwillingness to attract investment, my prediction to bearing fruit.

Those who opposed DK had no realistic alternative and are now turning to "hate the board"

Sad, real sad.

The man has a point though to be honest, wheather people choose to accept it or not, many said that without Kirkby it was was impossible to progress organicly as a club and we would stagnate, this has proved to be the case. However much you liked or abhored DK. I said at the time that all that would happen after the knock back was that the club would tread water to the sound of thunderous applause - seems to be the case. I dont know what people expected - people seem genuinely shocked that money hasnt just appeared.

Its old ground, but BT is right.

Sorry to keep it on slightly old ground Neiler- the following article from 8 months ago kind of backs up BT's points whilst clearly showing how out of his depth BK is. Just 2 point did Robert Earle really say what the author claims? Not a chance in my eyes- & these £11m+ future payables on players add ons etc - part of the issue as well as no money at the bank?????

100 % wrong mate, without going over old ground dk was never going to happen.the problem being that the dumb ****ers who voted for kirkby believed both kenwrights options, kirkby or NOTHING,now when they do nothing the board and the dumb ****ers can say "we told you this would happen" cue apathy and stagnation ffs

We're only stagnating because there was never a Plan B. What business people dont have an exit strategy after an initial plan goes wrong? Green, Earl, Woods, Kenwright...all businessmen who'd never dream of taking such a cavalier approach to their own core business interests as they do this football club's.

The problem has always been simply this during the Kenwright era: men in control of ownership who want something for nothing. Any old stadium scheme to latch onto without the hard work of actually building the club up from where it actually is.

The Echo Urge Kenwright to formally put the club up for sale:

"...some supporters still criticise Kenwright for refusing to sell to anonymous bidders, and for not being rich enough to personally fund a bid for a forward.
But if those criticisms are unwarranted, some forward momentum could be generated by appointing an agency to unearth a potential buyer. That would at least show a firm desire to attract investment. If you were keen on selling your house, you might plant a ‘For Sale’ sign in the front garden. But you’d have a much better chance of selling if you hired a reputable estate agent. Everton’s arrangement with Keith Harris always appeared to be a loose one. Liverpool, on the other hand, formally appointed Hawkpoint and paid them in the region of £2m to unearth an investor. They found not one, but two – and it was hardly their fault that the Reds chose a pair of Texans – but until Everton do something similar the mood will persist that Bill Kenwright isn’t sincere about his desire to sell. Without fresh investment it’s difficult to see how Everton can progress any further.
Victory tomorrow may buy a little more time, but not much more.
Defeat and Saturday January 29 could mark another turning point in Everton’shistory"

Pretty big development when the local rag start to turn on their bosses like this.

There must be a mutiny at the the echo!!!

I'm astounded that one of them has broken ranks...mind you, even hacks like that have to try and move with the pace of the story. It just shows you that not even their most fervent, die-hard supporters in the local press are willing to believe the board are serious about selling the club.

This investor found them 2 buyers, surely 2m would be worth it?

This ^^

If they really were serious about selling, surely they would of done this by now!!

two 5th spot finishes in a row, a carling cup semi, and fa cup final the following year, Everton were looking like a good investment for a potential buyer! Or for the board to stump up some dough for moyes to continue to push the top four, for me the board have failed Everton when at a time we were best of the rest and had a real chance to challenge.
