Player Valuation: £150m
Moyes consistently says that Everton give him 'everything he asks for' or 'what they can manage'. We do not have a large benefactor who is prepared to lose money for the sake of his hobby or his ego, and our marketing potential is currently limited by circumstances. The current value of the Everton squad is considerably probably more than many Premier League squads and this has been down to shrewd buying by Moyes backed by the board. The myth of 'net transfer dealings' is simply that, a myth. We pay wages in line with our league position, approximately, and our top players are on good money. Without the sale of Rodwell, and Cahills removal from the wage bill, and other player outgoings, we would not have Jelavic and Peinnar would not be back. Nor would we be able to continue paying the likes of Heitinger and Fellani 60-70 grand a week. That is the reality. If you want marquee signings in every window, and £25 million or more to be spent on one player, what you want is someone with loads of cash which they are prepared to lose, or at least loan to the club, although that can be dangerous. A new board might bring with it some investment in the infrastructure(urgent!!) and some investment in the squad, but it would need a massive investment of sheik or russian type money to put us up with Man City and Chelsea etc. A new board/ownership or whatever would not be a bad thing, but to a large extent the problems that the current incumbents have would still be there.
Talk all you want about them recycling cash to service the manager's team building; they've been in place for thirteen years without solving the infrastructural problem you highlighted. Just on those grounds alone they have completely failed this organisation. Whatsmore, if they were left in charge for another 13 years that issue would still be unresolved. They are an incompetent, freeloading bunch of corporate vandals who deserve zero credit for anything.
