Kid A tried asking me about Epstein, she's 14 and as dimwitted as her father.

These questions stumped me though, can GOT help:

1) How rich was Epstein, how did he make his money?
2) Why, when clearly doing very terrible things, did he leave so much evidence?
3) Is anyone going to prison?

Thanks in advance.

1. his story is very similar to the wolf of wall street, and when a banking firm he was part of was about to go under for ponzi scheming, he magically had left about a month before.

Every single time.

2. gets hazy here, apparently he by virtue of his job helping (checks notes 'tax evasion' 'tax avoidance') all over the world his imaginative schemes were in high demand. It wasn't his skills the intelligence agencies were interested in, but his access to certain regimes. There are allegations he was an undercover agent for almost every major world power going.

3. he went to prison, and when his handlers couldn't get him off the second time he threatened to expose what he knew in part of a deal, in 3 minutes 4 jar heads went and hanged him and were never there.

there ends the sad tale of poor jeffrey, a man that found out the hard way that there is more to life than money, and if you cross the wrong people, eventually all the money in the world can't get you off.

1. He was a financier by trade. Dealt with wealth management and offshore accounting for the super rich. Was likely more a facilitator or fixer rather than an actual accountant (He knows the guy that knows a guy)
Allegedly worth close to half a billion though. Not sure how what he did earned him anywhere near that much or how he even went from a no-body to this well connected guy. The Mossad asset links usually start at this point.

2. He likely thought he was untouchable due to his wealth and connections as did his clients. The upper echelon of the rich and powerful seem to be arrogantly sure of being untouchable (see Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor)

3. There'll be a sacrificial offering to keep everyone happy, I wouldn't hope for more than that, sadly.

1 - according to some reporting his estate was valued between around $440 and $600 million at his death (half of it went to a victims fund and the rest is still there) ($600 million source / $440 million source)

2 - there is some argument that gathering the evidence was the point (for blackmail / leverage), but none of that has been disclosed so far - what has been released is what US law enforcement scooped up from him, people of interest in the various investigations and tips / reports sent in by the public

3 - his accomplice Gislaine Maxwell (daughter of Robert Maxwell) is already in prison, albeit in a cushier one than she was before. Epstein was in prison when he died and another associate of his (Jean-Luc Brunel) was as well before his death. In terms of this Mandelson looks most at risk, there is an offence in the UK called "misconduct in a public office" that may well apply to what he did (leaking government financial information almost immediately upon receiving it)

Appreciate the replies, guys, not much comfort for a 14 year old girl.

What a world.
Nor for this 42yo man.
I'd (naively) hoped that this would be an as bipartisan issue as you could get. Forget left vs right, investigate the whole sordid lot of them and punish all found to be directly involved, regardless of who they are or which side of the political spectrum they represent, let the chips fall where they may.
Sadly, some people are so gone with this 'owning the left' nonsense that they'd rather let paedophiles roam free than admit someone "on their team" did wrong. :(

It's going to get worse. With billions at stake you think only mandelson was involved? There's money-grubbing-whores that'd shank their own mother for a fiver in gb politics. badenoch was subdued today. Stinks.

peston (that idiot) is on itv at 10:45pm and is usually a bit more gung ho and partisan about politics. We've had hours for a head of steam to build so this could be a telling moment. [I'm so glad it's not laura k - I really dislike that twit*]
Watching this now, Piers Morgan is one detestable bellend … I hate that waste of good organs
