how times have changed in the last two years that we are dissapointed at only getting a point v man u. Biggest difference for me though , is that we was confident enough to go toe to toe v them instead of putting 11 men behind the ball and hoping to get a nil nil or scrape a 1 nil of a corner that cahill heads in etc. Thats what i will take from the game before i start ****ging any individual player or tactics of etc. I take pride from the game, just for the simple fact for once we felt the win was more likley (pre kick off obviously and the way the players went at the game.)

Come on blues we spank them geordies next week trust me .

Amen.

Plus , that's 2 years running we've put 3 up them . We haven't done that since Bally .

Good Post!
And it shows that we are doing the rights things and we will start on the winning trail again very soon. Hopefully starting with a convincing one on Saturday. 3-0 Blues.

Last season, even though our finishing position wasn't great, we proved that our actual football against teams, especially the bigger ones, had improved drastically, Saturday (bar the first 30 minutes of the second half) we proved that again.

we need to find a balance really, we're far to likely to conceade these days, other clubs are doing what we used to soak up pressure and try and sneak one at the other end. I have no doubht we will get good results against our nearest rivals, its the games against Wolves, Stoke, Brum etc i think we will struggle in.

agree with OP
I think we did match them toe to toe, and I just wonder what would have happend if we had a top quality striker that Moyes wants, if we had someone like a berba, or a dzeko etc, then i think we would have won fairly comfortably!

That's it, isn't it? The problem is the draws and defeats against the likes of Wolves, Stoke, Brum, Blackburn etc are far too frequent. Those teams get the occaisional result against Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal etc but it's a shock when it happens. We're lacking that bit of magic up front to prize open the stubborn defences. But I do like the direction we're heading. I've often said on this forum that I see Moyes's work as Evolution not revolution. You need money for revolution in football nowadays.
A few years back Spanish friends who watched a televised game would say to me ''Everton defended well, but they were lucky to get the point''. Now I'm hearing more and more ''Everton played well, they were unlucky not to win''
We obviously need to eliminate the bit in bold but it's definitely more satisfying

Yeah mate you've nailed it there. We've come a long way in the last 5-10 years. The difference between us and the top 4 teams now (apart from a shitload of cash) is making sure we aren't unlucky against mid-low table teams and roundly finishing them off as Arsenal and Chelsea do. Apart from being morale boosting and decreasing the chance of late goals against us, the league is getting so tight that goal diff is gonna play a big part.
So tighten up at the back and put more in the opposition's goal. Football's easy aint it! :) :)

We seem to be able to match Utd at home now, 3 years running they havn't beaten us. Its about time we matched the big teams.
Distan had a shocker against Utd and we lucky it was only 3 against us. Its about time we did them over in Extra time, anyone remember the 4-3 lose after coming back from 3-0 down.

Have to win on saturday, Newcastle are the worst team in the league, if we don't beat them, then its going to be a long season

Yes, i often remember just wiping out the UTD game as a loss at their place, and ours - i remember it being literally men against boys.
