Once played in a corporate golf day at Shooters Hill course in Kent. The guest celebrity was Kenny Lynch who was 'after dinner speaker.' The host, who knew I lived in Maidenhead, asked me if I would give Kenny Lynch a lift home, as he lived in Henley which is not far away. I agreed and during the hour or so drive back we had a really good chat, mainly about National Service which we had both done. A really nice guy. I was prepared to take him home to Henley, but he didn't want to inconvenience me and insisted upon me dropping him at Maidenhead station so he could get the train. Sad news.
